Public Policy
IEEE in Europe works with international, European and national institutions in EU/EFTA countries to help shape technology policy and governance In coordination with other IEEE organizational units and IEEE public policy initiatives, IEEE Europe leverages the knowledge and expertise of the global IEEE community to provide policymakers with insights and recommendations for informed technology-related public policy decisions.
IEEE Public Policy Programme (EPPC)
Through the IEEE European Public Policy Programme (EPPP), engineers and technologists are given a platform to share their expertise, insights, and concerns on European public policy and technology policy issues within the IEEE’s fields of interest – from digital technologies to climate and sustainability.
The IEEE European Public Policy Committee (EPPC) aims to strengthen the dialogue between Europe’s engineering, technical and policy communities by pooling and leveraging the knowledge and expertise of the global IEEE community, the EPPC provides EU institutions and the wider policy community in Europe with independent, unbiased, and innovative advice on public policy and technology policy matters.
The EPPC is supported by two Working Groups composed of IEEE volunteers from across EU and EFTA countries: one on Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) and another one on Energy.
IEEE EPPP work involves a combination of activities, including the production and dissemination of policy documents, direct engagement with policy makers, of discussions, bringing together technologists, policymakers, and industry, and collaboration across IEEE.
